Saints open a can of whip ass on the Colts

Sean Payton's latest injury had no effect on the Saints 62-7 win over the Colts. Payton arrived on the field on crutches sporting a leg brace. Many fans were worried how Payton not being on the field would effect the play calling. When in fact it might have help more than anything. Giving him a different perspective of the game from the booth. The Saints blew the roof off the superdome tying the NFL record for the most points scored in a game since the merger in the 1970's. For four games in a row Brees has thrown for 350 yards or more but failed to extend his NFL record falling short by 25 yards. And the NFL's best tightend Jimmy Graham who leads all tightends in the NFL in receiving yards and only trails 2 receivers had another effective game against the Colts. Darren Sproles averaging over 7 yards a carry and reception has been one of the Saints best free agent signings since Drew Brees was                     signed in 2006. Both players coming from the San Diego Chargers.

Top 5 teams in the NFL in week 5

#1 Green Bay is the best team in the NFL in week 5

#2 The Saints offense is rolling & the defense is starting to learn how to play with the new additions on the defensive line.

#3 The Lions have made a drastic change from  the team they were last year and have given hope to a team that was once the door mat of the NFL.

#4 The Patriots have improved there roster from last year and have there eyes set on a Super Bowl run this year.

#5 The Ravens are one of the deepest teams in the NFL at almost every position on the team, and have the most talent on defense.

Monday Night Football

The Lions played the Bears on Monday night football. It's been almost a decade since the Lions have played on Monday night football. Bears QB Jay Cutler was hit on almost every play. Not one time did Cutler get to set his feet to make a throw down field. He still managed to put up decent passing yards throwing for 260 yards and a touchdown as Cutler showed great foot work all through the game. Matt Forte ran for over a 100 yards again this week after running for over 200 yards last week. The Lions defensive line handled the Bears offensive line like they were a high school team. Suh let his presents be felt all game long and the Bears had no answer for him. At half time I expected the Bears to make adjustments, having a running back chip the defensive ends, or bringing in a tight end are two to help the Bears offensive line. Not one time did the Bears  try anything to help protect Jay Cutler during the game. But you have to give the Lions credit. They played great on both sides of the ball on Monday night football. On one of the biggest stages in football they brought there A game. It's been since 1971 the last time the Lions had a pro bowl quarterback and since  1956 the last time they started 5-0. Well it's 2011 and the Lions are 5-0 to start the season and Stafford is having a tremendous year so far. He has a ways to go to make the pro bowl this year but has began the season with a great start. Matthew Stafford finished the game 19/26 with 219 yards 2 touchdowns and 1 int. Lions running back Jahvid Best had a career high 12 carries for a 163 yards rushing  and a touchdown. Calvin Johnson a.k.a Megatron lead all receivers with 5 catches for 130 yards and a touchdown.
Everyone keeps waiting for the Detroit Lions to lose. They just keep finding ways to win.

Week 4 results minus monday night's game

Will Romo be the starting QB for the Dallas Cowboys next season?
So far this seasons picks have not been that bad. This week minus the Monday night game I'm 11-4. That's a total of 43-20 for the season. I picked the Dallas Cowboys to upset the Detroit Lions, and it looked like a good prediction til the fourth quarter came around. The Dallas Cowboys have never lost a game with that big of a lead going into the second half. It was a total disaster for Tony Romo. Who had played so well in the first half of the game. Romo ended the game 34 of 47 331 yards 3 touchdowns and 3 ints.

Fizpatrick sputters in Bills first loss of the season.

Who would have believed that the Bengals had any chance of beating the Buffalo Bills? The rookie quarterback wide receiver combination in A J  Green and Andy Dalton have given this franchise hope for the future. Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton went 18 of 36 for 298 yards 1 touchdown and 2ints. A J Green had a tremendous game with 4 receptions for 98 yards averaging 29 yard a catch.

Can Vick get his team on track before its to late?

No one gave the 49ers a chance to win against the Eagles this week. Michael Vick had a tremendous game
throwing for a career high 30/46 for 416 yards 2TDs and 1INT. On the ground he carried the ball 8 times for 75 yards. The Eagles were on there way to winning this game, and than came the second half. The 49ers scored three touchdowns in the second half. Alex Smith went 21/33 for 291 yards 2TDs catching on fire in the second half of the game. Gore ran the ball effectively rushing for 127 yards on just 15 carries and 1TD.

Two teams that have not been able to win a game in the first three weeks of the season. Kansas City has played awful in their last three games,  not even coming close to winning a game this season. The Vikings new QB Mcnabb has not played well. In the first game of the season he throw for less than a 100 yards. Adrian Peterson was a number one or two pick in most fantasy leagues at the beginning of the year, but has not been fed the ball enough. He rushed 23 times for 80 yards against the Chiefs.Mcnabb threw for 202 yards 2 TDs and 1 INT. Kansas had a good game through the air with Matt Cassel throwing for 260 and 1 TD. Dwayne Bowe caught 5 passes for 107 yards and 1 TD.

Can Vick stay healthy all season

Will Vick be able to stay healthy all season long? If he can will it be good enough for the Eagles weak offensive line. Vick makes up for alot of problems the Eagles have on that offensive line, and a broken Vick may not be able to pick up the slack. The last 3 weeks of the season he's been off his game. He's staying in the pocket way to long. It seems like he's trying to draw the flag instead  of playing his game. Vick is the best dual threat QB in the NFL ever. His running has always been the highlight of his game. His passing game improved last season, but that was due to his running ability. When a QB is a dual threat the safety's have to stay true to the threat of the QB running ability. Vick has to stop worrying about drawing the flag, and play his game.Vick has more of a chance of getting hurt in the pocket than running the ball. If he can run the ball effectively the Eagles have a chance at the playoffs

Matt's Fantasy Football Blog: Results from week 2 of the NFL season picks

Matt's Fantasy Football Blog: Results from week 2 of the NFL season picks: Fitzpatrick has the Bills on a roll The Bills started week two of the season with a spectacular game that went right down to th...
Can Fitzpatrick take the Bills to the promise land

In week two I said the Bills were a franchise on the rise, and in week three they go out and beat the Patriots. Who knew this team was that far a long, and Fitzpatrick was ready to lead this team in the 4th quarter. Not that he's not a good QB. He's a tremendous QB. He makes the plays he needs to, and hes smart very smart. Everyone knows his name and where hes from by now, but at the start of the season everyone in the sports world thought the Bills would be a 4,5,6 win team this season. Every year they have a team that comes out of nowhere to make the playoffs. Is that team the Bills? Its just the third game of the season lets not get ahead of our self. The Bills are a good team with a good QB, Running game and soild defense but yes there's always a but. There division is stacked and don't think the Patriots will forget this tough lose. This division goes through New England and that won't change any time soon. The Bills showed that they can win close games and compete in the division. I think the Bills are a 9 to 10 win team, and that a big step from the door mat of the NFL.
Hottest team in the country

Here are the picks of the week from Matt's fantasy football blog where anyone can be a winner

The Patriot are 17-1 against the Bills in the last 18 matches. But the Bills lead the NFL in points per game at 39.5. Patriots make it 18-1 against the Bills this weekends. Patriots win

  •  Patriots 2-0  @  Bills 2-0
Jaguars are 3-1 vs the Panthers. Cam Newton is rank second in the NFL with 476 yards a game and hes doing all of this as a rookie. Every week Newton has improved. He set a rookie record for passing yards in his first game and broke it in his second game with 432 yards. This week Newton gets his first win. Panthers win

  • Jaguars 1-1  @  Panthers 0-2

Alex Smith landed on the injury list this week with a concussion. The 49ers are rank first in the league vs the run only allowing 54 yards a game. The Bengles rookie wide receiver A.J Green has 10 rec. for 124 yards in his first two games. This one is a tough one to pick, but I believe the Bengles rookie QB pulls this one out. Bengles win
  • 49ers 1-1  @  Bengles 1-1

The Miami Dolphins are averaging 483 yards a game, and have a rookie running back (D. Thomas) that ran for 107 yards in his debut last week. Miami won the last three meeting and are going for four in a row. But the Browns are coming off a win and Payton Hillis looks to be coming into form. But the dolphins are looking for there first win this season and won't let the Browns stand in there way. Miami wins in a blow out.
  • Dolphins 0-2  @  Browns  1-1

Detroit is 2-0 off to a excellent start. As long as Matthew Stafford can stay healthy I wouldn't bet against them.Calvin Johnson is tied for the most rec. tds in the league with four tds. But the Viking have won 16 out of 18 games vs the Lions. Peterson has 218 yards rushing in the past two games. This is a tough game to pick the 2-0 Lions or the 0-2 Viking that are backed into a corner. Detroit wins in a close one
  • Lions 2-0   @    Vikings 0-2

The Saints are 1-1 and are facing one of the best teams (Texans) in the league. Texans have never been 3-0 in franchise history, and Shaub leads the league in completion percentage with 71.7%. Brees has also had a great start to the season with 284 passing yards and 5 tds on third down in his first two games, and ranks 4th in the NFL in passing yards with 689. But its the defense that has stepped up for the Saints ranking 3rd in the NFL with 8 sacks. Saints win
  • Saints  1-1  @   Texans  2-0

Mike Vick is back and ready to take down a giant. Eagles have won the last five games vs the Giants.
New York has the 3rd best rush defense in the league only allowing 66 yards a game. Giants DE Tuck has 4.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles in the last two games vs the Eagles. Phi. Maclin had 13 rec. and 171 yards in last weeks game. Vick will turn this game into a highlight reel for NFL Network and Sportcenter. Eagles win
  • Giants 1-1  @  Eagles  1-1

Denver's wide receiver Decker had 5 rec. for a 113 yards and 2 tds last weekend. Titans wide out Kenny Britt has 271 yards rec. 2nd most in the NFL. Both teams are 1-1 and the season does not look bright for either one. This game will give one team a 2-1 record and hope for the future, or a chance to be the number 1 pick in the draft. Which would not be bad because Sanford has a quarterback name Andrew Luck who is the best prospect sense Payton Manning. Broncos win
  • Broncos   1-1  @  Titans  1-1

The Jets lead the NFL with 5 ints., and are 8-1 when Mark Sanchez throws for 2 or more touchdowns.
Oakland's Darren McFadden is rank 2nd in the NFL with 222 rushing yards. He can also catch the ball in space and make a play. Jets win
  • Jets  2-0   @  Raiders  1-1

The Chiefs are averaging a NFL low 5 points per game, and no this is not a mistake I checked it twice myself. It's not just the offense because the defense is giving up a NFL high 44.5 points per game. The Chargers on the other hand have averaged 438.5 yards per game. V. Jackson caught 10 balls for 172 yards and 2 tds last week. This is the easiest pick of the week. Chargers win
  • Chiefs 0-2  @  Chargers  1-1

The Ravens T. Suggs has 3 sacks in 2 games and with R. Lewis the Ravens have two of the best defensive players in the league. Sam Bradford had a effective rookie year last year, and had 331 yards in game two this year. This smells like a upset but I'm going with the better defense and that's the Ravens.  Ravens win
  • Ravens  1-1  @  Rams  0-2

Matt Forte leads running backs in the NFL with 207 rec. yards. Jay Cutler is on his back more than not. The Bears do not have an effective offensive line, and without one will not be able to compete for a conference title. The Packers took the Saints by surprise the first week of the season with there high flying offense. But will win this one with defense. Packers win
  • Packers  2-0  @  Bears  1-1

  J. Jackson threw for 4tds and 0 int., but the Seahawk still lost. The Seahawk are 0-2 to start the season and show no improvements. Cardinals are a different team than last year. They are the best team in there Division, all because of the quarterback position.K.Kolb has given Larry F. a hope for the future of the franchise. Cardinals win
  • Cardinals  1-1  @  Seahawks  0-2

Atlanta has won the last five meeting vs the Buccaneers. Matt Ryan (Matty Ice) threw for 4tds last week. J. Freeman lead the Buc. on a come from behind win vs the Viking last week. Both teams are 1-1 and could take the lead in the division with a win this week. Most polls have the Falcons winning this game but don't rule out the Bucs. there a franchise on the rise. I give the edge to Atlanta . Atlanta wins
  • Falcons  1-1   @  Buccaneers  1-1

The Steelers have won 7 of the last 9 games vs the Colts, and without Manning the Colts have not found a way to win.Pit. wideout Wallace has 5 strait game with a 100+ yards rec. going back to last year. Big Ben looked his old self again last week coming back from a disappointing start to the season. Steelers win
  • Steelers  1-1  @  Colts  0-2

Rex Grossman made a comment during a interview in preseason saying that the Redskins were ready for the season and would make the playoffs this year. Everyone on NFL Network said that he was crazy and that they would only win from 5 to 6 games. Now they have not won 5 or 6 games yet but they are 2-0 and look really explosive this season. They are headed to Dallas for a Monday night game. Romo is banged up with broken ribs and a puncher in his lung. Both the starting receivers are out for the game. Looks like the Redskins got this one right. No I think the Cowboys rally around Romo. Teammates love when there quarterback plays hurt, it show them that this guy is hungry and he's some one that wants to win. The defensive guys eat that shit up. They love when there QB plays hurt. Look for the Cowboys defense to rally around Romo and pick up the slack and dominate in this game. Cowboys win
  • Redskins  2-0  @  Cowboys  1-1

Results from week 2 of the NFL season picks

Fitzpatrick has the Bills on a roll

The Bills started week two of the season with a spectacular game that went right down to the end of the wire. Ryan Fitzpatrick had a tremendous game for the second strait week. The bills are a team on the rise, and Fred Jackson has been a add dimension to there running game that has made all the difference. With the new found running game, the passing game has been effective. The Bills pulled out a tough win against a upgraded Oakland Raiders team that could be a contender in the confidence this season.

Cam Newton taking the league by storm
Aron Rodgers challenged Newton to a shutout and Newton did not disappoint. Newton has another impressing game against the Packers throwing for over 400 yards for the second week in a row, but it still was not enough to pull out the win.
Will Manning ever be the same
Payton Manning had another neck surgery and no one could say when he would be back. With Kerry Collins at the helm the Colts are just not the same team. They could be looking at a four to five win season. And even if Manning returns this season will he be the same player. The bottom line is if the Colts don't find a way to win without Manning you can kiss this season good bye. Colts lose second strait and are  0-2 for the first time in a decade.
When will the Vikings go to there rookie QB
Tampa did not surprise many by beating the Vikings. The Vikings quarterback play has been awful, and the defense is ageing fast. Tampa is one of the youngest teams in the NFL and have done a excellent job of winning with great coaching and young talent. Josh Freemon was extremely underrated coming out of Kansas state. Tampa Bay has done a spectacular job of scouting and drafting franchise and key players on both sides of the ball. In this years draft they draft the number one prospect in the country in the second round with the 58th pick. Tampa Bay is a franchise on the rise. Tampa won this contest in the last seconds of the game.

Detroit is a franchise that has been at the bottom of the NFL for a long time now. With Stafford healthy and (Megatron) Calvin Johnson's tremendous size and speed the offense can put up points. But its the defense that has change the the state of the franchise. The defensive line is the dominant force on this team, and the reason why the Detroit Lions have a chance at the playoffs. The Lions beat the Chiefs this week in prime fashion.

Brees pumps up the who Dat nation
Brees was reliable as usual as the Saints beat the Bears on Sunday afternoon.Wide receiver Devey Henderson stretched the field all day, and gave the running backs room to run. Darren Sproles has been a excellent change of pace and situational running back. The saints defense picked up the pace in this weeks contest forcing Cutler out of the pocket, and making him throw off his back foot.  Former first round pick New Orleans Saints safety Malcom Jenkins has showed why he was worthy of that high of a pick. The Saints beat the bears in convincing fashion.

The New York Jets beat a tough team in the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jets impressing defense stop the Jaguars through out the game. Jets win

The Steelers beat the Seahawks in impressing fashion, and are back on track after losing to the Ravens last week. This is one of the best receiving core big Ben has had sense he was drafted, Wallace, Ward, Sanders and slot man Brown. The defense is always good in Steeler town and this off season invested alot of money in there linebackers

Ray Lewis is at the end of a tremendous career
The Titans surprised everyone but Rickey Suire (http://rickeyswff.blogspot.com) by beating the Ravens this past weekend. Rickey predicted that the Titans would beat the Ravens which may be just luck but I'll give him credit anyway.Good pick Rick

Washington beat the Cards and look like a franchise on the rise.Grossman made a prediction in the preseason saying the Redskins would make the playoffs, and so far it looks to be true but its a long season.

Tony Romo was a American hero this weekend by playing with a cracked rib. The 49ers were on there way to winning there first game of the year when Tony Romo came back into the game after cracking his ribs just a few mins. earlier to win the game for the Cowboys. Romo will be wearing a protective vest this coming weekend to protect his hurt ribs.Cowboys are now 1-1

Tebows career not real bright
Fans are still calling for Tim Tebow but that does not look like that's going to happen any time soon or this season for that matter. Orton did enough to win in this game but doesn't look like a franchise quarterback, not in this offense. The Bengals are 1-1 and who would have thought they would have won any games this season. There rookie QB has been consistent in his fist two games of the season, that's more than you could ask for from any rookie quarterback in the NFL. Top pick Mr. Green caught 10 passes in this one and looks to be coming on strong at the start of the season. Denver pulls this one out there a**.
Houston is starting the season as a Superbowl contender. The offense is on point even with Foster out Tate has picked up his game, and has the ability to catch the ball out the back field. Reggie Bush is not the player I thought he would be in the first two games of the season. Miami gave Bush his chance and has not put up big numbers. Its time to go with the rookie who played  with a nice burst up the middle. The QB position is a work in progress. Houston wins this one

Give it up for big Wilford, the giant defensive tackle for the New England Patriots who had a int. and a tremendous run back for about 30 yards. Rivers got hot late in the game, but came up short. Every year the Chargers start the season out of sink and some how catch on fire at the end of the year. Matthews has not lived up to the hype. Matthews needs to stay healthy and more carries to show  why he was worth such a high pick coming out the draft just two years age. Patriots win

When will Vick return to the field?
It was Vick's first homecoming going back to the dome in Atlanta as a starter. Everyone thought the Eagles would dominant this game, "I did anyway" but it wasn't meant to be. Vick got hurt late in the game after hitting his head on a teammates helmet, and had to leave the game.Vick never returned to the field and the Eagles lost

Sam Bradford was a couple plays short from winning this game. The Giants defense slowed down the Rams offense by faking an injury. Two players who were walking back to the huddle after the Rams were driving down the field and in the red zone just fell to the ground at the same time with an injury. The Giants had no time outs, and the Rams were in a no huddle offense. The injury's stop the game and gave the Giants defense a chance to rest, and call a play after a long drive down the field by the Rams. The Giants won this one

This past weekend I went 13-3 in my picks of the week. Last week I went 11-5 and my total record is 24-8
I will be going for 16-0 in this weeks picks

Arian Peterson Has New Deal

96 million reasons why to have a record breaking season
Arian Peterson signed a 7 year 96 million dollar deal with 35 million garunteed. Fantasy owners get ready Peterson has a new deal to play with. Will this make him play harder, or not affect him at all. What has history taught us? Usually when a player is playing for a contract is when you get the best play out of them. So what will fantasy owners expect this season from Peterson? I'll tell you, He plays this game to be the best ever. His physicality is like no other back that has played this game.Of course the money is important, but if that was the case he would have quite playing hard the last big contract he signed. With Bret Farve retired the Viking will get back to there old plan of running the ball with Arian Peterson. Look for this season to be a record breaking season for the top running back in the league.

Over 700 Yards Passing In Total

Tough pill to swallow for Brees
A spectacular night for some fantasy owners.Brees had over 400 yards passing and 3 TDs with out a int. The Thursday's night game was more a rack meet than a football game. When it looked as if the game was out of reach for the Saints, some one would make a play.Wide receiver Devery Henderson was the leading receiver for the saints with 6 catches a 100 yards receiving and 1 touchdown. Robert Meachen and tightend Jimmy Graham each scored a touchdown. On special teams new comer Darren Sproles returned a kickoff  104 yards for a score to keep the saints in the game. Sproles at this point looks to be a excellent pick up for fantasy owners, but like Reggie Bush he won't get a lot of opportunities on the field. If put in as a slot receiver with his kick and punt return ability, it may be all the opportunity he needs to score big fantasy numbers. You probably won't see him used in short yardage situations or in the red zone territory, but with his explosiveness Sproles won't need to be near the red zone to score.

Rogers had a dominanting first quarter throwing for 3 touchdowns. Only the second time ever in NFL history that a quarterback has thrown for 3 touchdowns in the first quarter. He finished the night with 312 yards passing and 3 touchdowns with out a int. Number one receiver Jennings was the leading receiver for the Packers with 7 reciptions 89 yards receiving and 1 touchdown. Donald Driver came witin one yard of breaking the Packers all time leading receiver in yards. He finished the game with 4 receptions and 41 yards with out a touchdown. Jordy Nelson started off right where he left off in the Superbowl last year. He Dominated the saints secondary and exposed there corners. At 6-3 217 pounds Nelson is a big target for Rogers, and has a effective burst of speed off the line of scrimmage. Big targets are great weapons in the redzone so look for Nelson to have a big year in receptions and touchdown catches.

Everyone anticipates tightend Jemichael Finley will have a big year this season if he can stay healthy. Finely was drafted by the Packers with the 28th pick in the 3rd round coming out of Texas in the 2008 draft. He started off strong in 2010 cathing 21 balls for 301 yards with 1 touchdown in five games, but suffer a knee
Best receiver in football?
injury that plagued him all season long. Than came the postseason and Finely came alive giving the Packers a needed boust adding a demension   the Packers were lacking, a big target in the redzone. At 6-5 250 pounds Finely is a big target for Rogers and a excellent fantasy pick at the tightend spot.
Randel Cobb was a surprise to some, but not to the fans that seen him in the preseason.Drafted out of Kentucy with the 32 pick in the 2nd round. At 5-10 192 pounds and 4.3 time in the 40 yard dash he was just another weapon for Aron Rogers. Cobb took a basic slant route(defense playing a man under scheme)

Randal Cobb returns one for a touchdown
for a 32 yard touchdown. After the Saints came a little closer to the lead after a touchdown. Cobb put together a highlight reel and took the next kickoff 108 yards for a touchdown. Cobb could be a spectacular pickup in some fantasy leages. The rookie from Kentucy will be a situational weapon for the Packers this season. Not unlike a Derren Sproles or a Reggie Bush. Theses situatioal players have become valuable in the highpower offense in the NFL. Some one who can take a short pass and turn it into a long gain.

  28. Jahvid Best- sleeper
  29. Reggie Bush- sleeper
  30. Mark Ingram
  31. Ryan Grant- sleeper
  32. C J Spiller- sleeper
Here are a few sleepers we think will have a effective fantasy season.
Look for Reggie Bush to have the best year of his career if hes a full time back as promise.
Ryan Grant has the ability to have a spectacular year, but don't expect this pick to pay off til the 3rd to 4th week of the season. Preseason evaluation projects big numbers from C J Spiller this season. Tim Hightower
showed explosive ability and excellent technique in the preseason. Mark Ingram shores up a talented back
field in New Orleans, but it's a three back set there. Jahvid Best athletic ability gives him a chance to have a effective season every year if he can stay healthy this season.Remember a second year for a running back should be one of his best years. They have a better under standing of the offence, and also the speed of the pro game.
